Upgraded PRD PM1703xx-II Series have improved CsI(Tl) detector characteristics and fully comply with ANSI N42.32-2016.
The extended measurement range is enabled by the installed new CsI(Tl) detector with a semiconductor photomultiplier (SiPM).

PM1703MO-II BT has two built in detectors (CsI(Tl) and Geiger counter) and such competitive features as improved search algorithm and NORM supress function, extended DE and DER measurenet ranges, high sensitivity, compact size, user-friendly interface, low-energy operation, waterproof and shockproof case.
Instrument is intended for everyday and/or emergency use by firefighters, military, police, and other first responding communities.
Operation Principle
Instruments of PM1703xx-II Series were successfully tested in ORNL.
The instrument has increased sensitivity due to two built in detectors: the highly sensitive CsI (Tl) scintillation detector for a fast response and location of radioactive sources, as well as energy compensated Geiger-Muller detector for high dose rate range and accurate measurement.
The suppress NORM algorithm allows excluding alarm signal when the natural gamma background value increases and Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) are detected.
The instrument displays the current level of gamma radiation background in numerical range from 0 to 9, that simplifies visualization of the radiation dose rate for the user.
All the operations history is stored in the instrument non-volatile memory, protecting the data even when the battery is removed. The stored data can also be transferred to the personal computer via USB interface.
The instrument is equipped with Bluetooth channel and can exchange data with smartphones, that’s very important for the day-to-day operation.
The instrument can be used both indoors and outdoors.
Supress NORM algorithm
The suppress NORM algorithm allows excluding alarm signal when the natural gamma background value increases and Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) are detected. If NORM are detected – green indication light is given. In case the other radionuclides types (IND, NUC, MED) are detected, red indication light and audio alarms are activated.
Communication with smartphone
PM1703MO-II BT can transfer data via Bluetooth® 4.0 to smartphones based on Android (version 6.0 and higher) with “Polismart®” Mobile App. Free Mobile App is available for AndroidTM mobile devices and can be downloaded from Google PlayTM.
Options
PM1703MO-II BT can be equipped with holster that provides additional protection in various weather conditions. It can be also fixed on the waist belt using belt loop.
PM1703MO-II BT can be equipped with telescopic extension pole for operating in remote and hard-to-reach areas.

Personal radiation detector PM1401MA is designed for detecting of gamma radiation sources. Due to its hermetic and shockproof case and the LCD screen fluorescent backlight, instrument can be used in extreme and harsh environments. For work in difficult-to-access areas telescopic extension tube is provided. PRD has audible, visual and vibrating alarms, records and stores up to 1000 events in non-volatile memory and transmits data to a PC via IR channel.
PM1401MA is recommended for first responders, security guards, police, customs officers and border patrol. No special experience or training is necessary to operate the instrument.

Dosimeters perform monitoring and measurement of dose equivalent and dose equivalent rate in the wide energy range – from 1 mSv/h up to 5.00 Sv/h (for PM1603A) and from 1 mSv/h up to 10.0 Sv/h (for PM1603B). Instruments have two thresholds in DER and DE ranges and non-volatile memory for data storage. Hermetic, water-resistant and shockproof case and the fluorescent backlight on LCD screen allow to use instruments in harsh and extreme conditions.
PM1603A and PM1603B dosimeters are recommended for emergency services, customs and border patrol, radiological and radioisotope laboratories, medical professionals, personnel of nuclear facilities, civil defense, firefighters and police.
